Don't Risk Your World of Warcraft Account Buying Gold

There is a plague that has afflicted players of World of Warcraft and other online games for several years now. This is no ordinary plague. It involves the theft of items and gold from the players of these games. Some players even login to find that all their effort in levelling up their characters has been destroyed by the thieves who have deleted their characters.

I have personally witnessed how these actions have affected my guildmates. Frustration, anger, and even tears have resulted from the actions of account thieves. Is it any wonder that players feel this way when it can take hundreds of hours to get a character to the level cap?

So how do the account thieves manage this?

There are a few ways that players accounts can be compromised. The simplest way is that the player shares their account login information with someone else. This could be a little brother, a friend, or even another player halfway around the world. This third-party then does the unthinkable and steals from the account. More likely though, is that the third-party simply leaks the information to yet someone else who does the stealing.

These days though, the most common way that an account is compromised is by a piece of malicious software called a key logger. A key logger works in a similar way to a software virus. It gets installed on the player's computer, either when they install some software that has been infected, or when they visit a malicious Web site that installs the key logger.

The key logger then hides on the player's computer and waits until they type in their login information for World of Warcraft. It is then connects to its home computer and sends that information to its home computer across the Internet. The account thief then uses the account information to log in to the players account and and then sells all the players gear, and sends all the players gold to the thieves account.

One of the problems with World of Warcraft is that it takes a lot of gold to effectively play the game. There are a lot of things that players have to buy in the game, and it is not easy to get the gold in the first place. Consequently, a lot of players take the easy road and buy gold from a company that sells game gold over the Internet.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem. However, some gold sellers are less than reputable. When a player visits the site to buy the gold, the gold seller installs a key logger on their computer. The player then spends real-world money on the gold and receives it in the game. Later, after they have received the gold, they log on to find all their gear gone including the gold they originally purchased.

The gold seller has not only scammed them out of the money with which they bought the gold, he also cleaned out their World of Warcraft account and now has even more gold to sell on to other unsuspecting players.

For a lot of players, it's too risky to go online and buy gold. That's not to say that they have to go without. There are still plenty of methods that they can use to quickly and efficiently accumulate world of Warcraft gold.

Fortunately, there are a lot of gold guides that have been written to help players more efficiently earn world of Warcraft gold. One of these guides is called Warcraft Millionaire. It's written by a player called Brad Johnson who has made over one million gold over several characters in world of Warcraft. It details a lot of methods to help players efficiently earn gold without risking their accounts.
